WPC Certification in India for Bluetooth & Wi-Fi Products — ETA Explained
Bluetooth speakers, Wi-Fi routers, smart plugs and wireless modules sold or imported in India need WPC Equipment Type Approval (ETA). Here is how the process works.

WPC Certification in India for Bluetooth & Wi-Fi Products — ETA Explained
India's Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) wing grants Equipment Type Approval (ETA) for radio transmitters operating in delicensed or licensed bands. If your product has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, LoRa or cellular, assume WPC applies until scoped out.
Who needs WPC ETA
- Importers of wireless finished goods (TWS earbuds, routers, smart TVs with Wi-Fi).
- Manufacturers branding wireless SKUs for India marketplaces.
- Module integrators using pre-certified radio modules — still verify ETA coverage for the final product configuration.
WPC is separate from BIS CRS — many SKUs need both.
Typical ETA file ingredients
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| RF test report | From WPC-recognised lab; band-wise power limits |
| Frequency chart | 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz UNII, BT LE channels |
| Product photos & label | FCC ID / CE RED report sometimes referenced |
