Why marketplaces delist non-certified products
Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, JioMart and other Indian marketplaces actively verify compliance for notified products. Listings for products under a Quality Control Order — toys, pressure cookers, helmets, electronics, appliances, footwear and many more — must display a valid BIS licence or CRS registration number (R-number). Missing or invalid numbers lead to listing blocks, delisting and account health strikes; enforcement drives also remove entire categories overnight.
Seller checklist before you list
- Search your product on Certko — by name or HSN code — to confirm whether it is notified and under which scheme (ISI or CRS).
- Get the certification in the right name — CRS registrations are per brand and per manufacturing location; reselling someone else's registration is not compliant unless you are an authorised brand seller.
- Add the number to your listing — marketplaces provide a compliance field for the BIS/CRS number; the printed label on the product and packaging must match.
- Watch upcoming QCOs — products that are legal to sell today can become mandatory in months. Our QCO Alerts page lists notified enforcement dates so you can certify before the deadline instead of after a delisting.
- Importing to sell? Customs also checks certification for notified goods — uncertified consignments are held or re-exported.
