IS 11188: Part 1 (2014) Testing

IS 11188 covers five security classes of vault doors: Class C, B, A, AA and AAA. The classes indicate progressively higher levels of security and help users select a suitable door based on the protection requirement.

The standard covers main doors and emergency doors for vaults or strong rooms. These doors are evaluated for construction, fittings, locking arrangements, finish and specified security-related requirements.

The newer edition is IS 11188 (Part 1):2021, which is the third revision. BIS's current programme records Amendment No. 1 to the 2021 edition, reaffirmed in September 2025. Therefore, current certification requirements should be checked against the applicable 2021 edition rather than assuming the 2014 edition is current.
